Thomas C. Yeates III is a Principal at LaPete Yeates, LLC. Tom has over 30 years of experience advising companies on tax matters related to the real estate and financial services industries. Residing in Philadelphia, Tom started his career at a national accounting firm specializing in the real estate and leisure time industries and in 1990 joined Ernst & Young, LLP. During his tenure at EY, Tom was a Tax Partner and an Executive Director, a specialist in partnership and real estate transactions, a member of the National Tax Department’s Accounting Method and Inventory Group and the National Director and Practice Leader of the Cost Segregation Group. In addition, Tom has experience serving companies in the Retail and Consumer Products and the Alternative Energy Industries and in providing consultation on depreciation, investment tax credit, acquisitions and dispositions of property, construction and partnership taxation matters.
Tom has a Master of Taxation degree from Villanova University, is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and National Association of Real Estate Investment Trusts and was an adjunct professor at Philadelphia University. He has written for the Real Estate Finance Review, the Journal of Real Estate Taxation and lectured for the NAREIT Law and Accounting Conference, the American Bar Association National Tax Conference, the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants’ National Real Estate Conference, and the Philadelphia Tax Conference.
